Question: If you had to face the 3 Furies at one time like Percy, Annabeth and Grover did, what would you have done differently? Explain your answer and give specific details.

Answer: we would use Annabeth's invisibility cap to go up to the drivers seat and press the button used to open the door. Before, we ran out the door, we would kill at least 2 of the Furies. Next, grab Annabeth and Grover then run out of the bus, as far away from the bus as possible.

Question: Grover warned Percy that he was being “impertinent.” Percy’s response was, “I am impertinent!.” Describe in sentences what impertinent is and how Percy was acting as so, and what other ways does Percy act impertinent in the story.

Answer:
If you are impertinent, you are very rude. Percy was bing impertinent by disrespecting the gods and just about everyone around him. For example ther was the scene where Percy took Medusa's head and mailed it to the gods. Since Medusa's head had the ability to turn objects or people to stone, Percy was being impertinent in a very serious way. Percy was also being impertinent by being angry with his friends whenthey were only trying to help him.

Question 6: Why do you think the author wrote this story?

We think the author wrote the story because he wants to teach us about Greek mythology and the different gods. We also think the author wants to entertain us with a good book so that we will read more. Another reason is that Percy is different and he gets in trouble a lot but he isn't really a bad kid. He is misunderstood and at Camp Half-Blood he is able to fit in. So the author could also be trying to teach us that just because some people have problems or they appear to be a certain way, that doesn't mean they are bad or that's who they really are. They just need someone to help them realize what they are capable of doing.

Question 5: Family: Families are important in the story because Percy fights to save his mom. What would you do to protect your family members?

I would do anything it takes to protect my family because they would do the same thing for me. I would fight a ferocious beast, I would give up everything I have, or anything else I needed to do to keep my family safe and healthy.

Question #4: Percy felt different than normal people when he discovered he had magical powers. Describe a time when you felt like you didn't fit in. How did you feel? What did you do? How can you relate to how Percy feels in the novel?

I often feel like I don't fit in when I am at parties because some people look better in their clothes and they act cooler. I didn't really talk to people. I just did whatever they would do. So if kids were playing on the slide, then I would play on the slide, too. For some reason, I feel the same. It doesn't matter to me what other people think because that's them and everyone has their own opinion of what they call "cool." I can relate to Percy because I sometimes feel like I don't belong. I am quiet and timid at times, and it can be hard to find people that have my personality, but I like who I am!

Question #2: What other characters do you know who have faced problems similar to waht Percy faces in The Lightning Thief? Explain and give details to support your answer.

Another story I thought of was Harry Potter. Harry is similar to Percy because Harry is not a regular person and he also has special powers. Just like Harry Potter, everyone looks up to Percy because of his amazing gift. The other campers at Half-Blood Camp think that Percy is the "special one."

Question #1: Describe the setting of Camp Half-Blood. How does Percy react to the camp and the 12 houses?

Camp Half-Blood is located in a forest at the bottom of a hill in Montauk. Percy is curious about the 12 houses, and which half-blood lives in each house. Percy was shocked at the appearance of the cabins because they all represented the 12 Olympians, and he wondered why some of them were empty. He was even more concerned with cabin three.
